Andy's update (June)

Well the Main Event, the first European Championship round has come and gone and we are 3rd in the Fia points so a good start to the season. We didn't qualify great at the Main Event but at least we qualified. With 10 cars qualifying for an 8 car field, Sunday must have been an exciting day for Top Fuel fans. I was always 100% sure we would qualify, but it's quite hard to say who won't. That Erbacher didn't was a bit of a surprise for me, a 3 time Fia Methanol Champion, bang up to date American equipment, I knew they were struggling but thought they would make it, I know I've said it before, but this just shows how tough Top Fuel is.

A few things written on the Internet by other Top Fuel racers went to pieces at this first round. I think you have to be so careful (here's me throwing stones in a green house) what you write on the Internet as things are so easily taken in the wrong context. But anyway, the ending of the Main Event meant that I have held the Fia European Top Fuel et record for 4 seasons, 02, 03, 04, 05 and still hold it in 06. I also still hold the Fia European speed record (for 2 years) and have held that for 04, 05 and still hold it in 06. We are quite capable of upping both records, but I'm not chasing them numbers, I just want to go rounds and get a third Championship.

So it's off to Finland now, it's a round that I have won 3 times before, 2001, 2004 and last year 2005, a record that's far better than anyone eles's in Top Fuel. God I have got a big head haven't I, but as you read the pieces above you can see that I can actually back my boosting. The track is often loose at Alastaro and you really have to work at driving the car here, often having to make a run out of a potentially wasted one. Teams that are chasing big numbers with high horsepower usually struggle, so our chances are good and the whole team will be given it 100% as usual.

Inside Top Fuel went well at the Main Event and we had some good feedback from guests. We are getting a lot of interest in ITF for the European Finals, so come on get your deposit in if you want to get a real close look at what goes on in a Top Fuel pit.

That's it for now, sorry it's short but just so busy at the moment, thanks to all my sponsors, everyone who e-mailed, texted, and signed the guestbook with kind words, it really is appreciated.

Regards,

AC
