Having cut his teeth in the quarter mile sportsman ranks, Andy switched to supercharged, nitro burning racing with his outrageous seven second Ford Popular, which he ran in the 'Outlaw Anglia' class. In the mid 90's, Andy made the switch from the ridiculously short, 101" wheel base Pop to the 'Kings of the sport'; Top Fuel Dragster. The early years in Top Fuel Drag Racing were not as successful as Andy's previous efforts in other classes. The signs were there however, that this fierce 1/4 mile competitor would fight to earn the right to play on the big boys playground.

About the Authors

Dan Welberry is a long-time race fan and has a 15 year history in design and marketing. In 2001, Dan and Andy teamed up with Dan taking on all marketing and PR duties for the team. During their time to date, they have worked with four major sponsors and a huge number of marketing partners, most of which are still associated with the Carter Motorsport team today.

Dan runs his own design and web company; 3t creative and lives in Dorset, England with his wife Hannah and their five children. He is also rhythm guitarist and backing vocalist for rock band, Audio1. This is his first book.

Andy Carter is a life-long, hardcore racer. From age 11 he crewed for a successful Banger Racing driver, learning the ropes at different oval tracks all over the country. He started driving race cars at age 16, competing at oval tracks in the highly competitive world of Spedeworth National Hot Rods. In 1982 he switched to Drag Racing, starting in the street class and during the 80s was one of the most feared and respected street racers. In late 1989 he moved up to Super Gas and then, in 93 again moved up to Outlaw Anglia. His massive switch to the 'Kings of the Sport', Top Fuel Dragsters happened in 1994. Without doubt, Andy is the most successful Top Fuel Drag Racer in European Drag Racing history to date.

Away from racing Andy has gained English & American pilots Licence, HGV class 1 licence and Padi, open water diving licence. He enjoys diving, Jet Skiing, off road trial bike riding and on road motor bike riding, from his Sports Mopeds to his Harley Davidson. He has been married for 10 years to wife Sarah, they have a son Albert. This is his first book.
