13th August, 2010 - 11:30 - Qualifying Round #1

Welcome to Germany for the FIA NitrOlympX 2010! Heading into the event the weekend forecast was for rain, coming straight after a rain affected Veidec Festival no one wanted to see another washed out event. However, I'm pleased to report we woke to sunny skies this morning and the forecast has improved considerably... everyone here has their fingers crossed for the rain to stay away and this years exciting championship sees the racing it deserves. Looking at the points situation following Mantorp the curtailment of the event during the first round means the championship is still wide open for anyone to win, you can guarantee every racer will be fighting their hardest this weekend to make sure they are at the top of the pile going into next months European Finals.

We have just returned from a very challenging first qualifying session. A lot of pedalling and tire smoke from all of the cars resulted in a very slow field. Andy took a pedalling, tire smoking ride down the Hockenheim track, a 6.8 second pass the result but good enough for 3rd spot. Championship leader Risto Poutianen gained the most from the tricky conditions running a 5.3 to take the number one spot.   Tune back later for news for qualifying session 2.

13th August, 2010 - 17:00 - Qualifying Round #2

The track is really starting to come around here in Hockenheim and we witnessed some good runs in Pro Mod before us. In the second Top Fuel session the cars really got dialled in too, Urs Erbacher set the pace early in the session with a 4.99 and Anita Makela followed that with a 4.85. Carter was up next and the Lucas Oil dragster really stepped up, a strong launch, storming through half track and 1000ft... then an early shut off and a 4.90. A great pass from the Lucas Oil dragster to move up to the number three spot.

Qualifying after session 2:

1. Anita Makela 4.85

2. Risto Poutiainen 4.88

3. Andy Carter 4.90

4. Urs Erbacher 4.99

5. Timo Lehtimake 5.03

6. Janne Ahonen 5.13

7. Micke Kagered 5.46

8. Stig Neergaard 5.83

9. Jari Halinen 6.263

14th August, 2010 - 19:00 - Evening Update

Welcome back to Hockenheim where we have had a great day's racing. In this mornings first session the Lucas oil dragster flew down the Hockenheim quarter mile and straight into the number one spot with a 4.85. In the second session we stepped up again, the car storming the first 1000ft and recording a 4.802. Anita Makela stepped up too, running a great 4.800 to beat us to number one spot by just 0.002 seconds! Well done to Anita! So Andy Carter takes number two spot and a first round match up with Jari Halinen tommorow morning.

15th August, 2010 - 19:00 - Eliminations Update

Welcome back to Hockenheim. Overnight rain meant the track had to be dried this morning and the weather forecast predicted showers throughout the day. We faced Jari Hallinen in round one. AC away first and way ahead at half track, some problems with the Lucas Oil dragster at the top end, Andy off the throttle and across the line to take the win - 4.89 to 4.97. Stig, Anita and Urs also progressed through the first round. Unfortunately the rain showers returned and we couldn't complete the semi final. A disappointing end to what promised to be a great weekend for the Lucas Oil Top Fuel Team. But we have a car that is running very well and spirits in the team are high. We now return back to Santa Pod for the FIA European Championship Finals in four weeks time... see you there! Thanks to Lucas Oil and all of our associate sponsors...
