15th August, 2008 - 11:00 - Morning Update
It's raining here at Hockenheim. It is forecast to stop around lunchtime - we hope to be racing later this afternoon.
15th August, 2008 - 13:00 - Hitting The Right Note!
As I write, rain has stopped play in Germany at the NitrolympX so I thought I'd draw your attention to something a little different.
For a number of years now, I have worked with Andy as team PR and marketing man. When I'm not doing this or running my design business, you'll find me with a guitar strapped round my neck, playing for rock band Audio1.
We've just put out our first single into the mainstream music world and so far, things are looking good!
The song is a cover version of the 1980's Howard Jones classic What Is Love? and is being released with the full backing of both Howard and his record label.
We've been delighted with the progress being made by our radio pluggers Fleming Connolly. Sean Cooney and his team have been working hard to secure spot plays on various national stations and we were pleased to hear Janice Long play the single. This gave us a good platform on which to build and we're currently working on Radio 1. You can help us to gain radio play by texting the stations on the following numbers:
Radio 1 81199
Radio 2 88291
Virgin 81215
Capital 83958
The single is out now through download-only which will cost about 79p. You will be able to purchase your copy from itunes.com, hmv.com tescodigital.com virginmedia.com and 7digital.com.
You can get a sneak preview of the new single on www.myspace.com/audio1music and see the new video which was launched alongside the single this week.
15th August, 2008 - 20:00 - Qualifier #1
A long, long day of waiting for the Lucas Oil / Landmeco team... however the waiting was worth it, at 7pm the track was dry and Top Fuel could take to the track.

A fantastic pass from Carter - 4.86 at a massive 314mph! Straight into the number one spot from the trailer and a very happy team. Lex Joon also ran well dipping into the 4's with a 4.98 to take number two spot.
We will go to bed tonight happy, but knowing that any of the teams here are capable of running a 4.8 second pass we know we may need to step up tomorrow to stay at the top of the pile.
16th August, 2008 - 13:00 - Qualifier #2
The weather is much better today and we are hoping to fit in a full days racing. A few problems for the Lucas Oil dragster on this run. Cylinders out and off the throttle to a 5.5. Urs Erbacher and Micke Kagered both ran good 4.8 second passes to move into the number one and two spots respectively. We find ourselves in the number three spot knowing we will need to put in a stronger pass next time round.
16th August, 2008 - 15:00 - Qualifier #3
Lex started the session with a good looking 4.82 to move into the number one spot.
No improvement for Carter, an early shut off 4.93. Micke and Urs could not better their earlier times so the Lucas Oil / Landmeco team sit in the number 4 spot after the third and final session.
We will face Tommi Haapanen in the first round tomorrow morning.
17th August, 2008 - 11:30 - Eliminations - Round 1
A late night for the Lucas Oil / Landmeco team last night as we put in a pass in the dark during the night show. A 5.0 to beat Urs. However last nights pass counted for nothing, this morning is when everything counts – round one. The weather is great today, warm and sunny. Carter face Tommi Happanen in the second pair, the Lucas Oil car got the jump off the line and was ahead to 60ft very close at half track then something happened at 1000ft – the car lost the blower belt and Tommi came past to take the win.
Lex Joon beat Jari Hallinen, Micke Kagered beat Stig Neegaard and Urs Erbacher lost to Risto Poutiainen. We will be keeping our eyes on the semi finals to see how that affects our push for the championship.
17th August, 2008 - 19:00 - Evening Update
In the semi final Lex and Micke both won their races to set up an interesting final. Both drivers are high in the points – if Micke won we would keep the points lead, if Lex won he would take the lead from us. Lex was away first but smoked tires dwon track, Micke ran another consistent 4.9 to take the win.
A slightly disappointing result for the Lucas oil / Landmeco team, we knew victory at the NitrolympX would really help us in our push for the title. A first round loss was not part of the plan and it will make things tough at the European Finals in September. However we leave the event number two in the points, 5 points behind leader Lex Joon. We have won the title from tougher positions than that and you can guarantee we will give it our all at Santa Pod.
