Carter Aims For Third Thunderball
With less than three weeks to go to the start of the 2008 European drag racing season final preparations are being made in the Carter Motorsport / Andersen Racing camp. In Denmark crew chiefs Per Andersen and Karsten Andersen have been busy preparing the Lucas Oil Top Fuel dragster for its first outing of the year - the 2008 Easter Thunderball at Santa Pod Raceway.
"During the off season we have made some small adjustments to the tune up - some might say too much - but the changes should give us more consistency. The trailer has been stocked with lots of new parts - blocks, heads, cranks, pumps and all the small bits and pieces and consumables" Karsten said, "The 2007 season was spoiled by the weather, but the 4.64 at the Euro Finals felt good and we did well at Mantorp running three 4.7s. We are always learning and we learnt a great deal during 2007". The Lucas Oil 'Super Crew' remains unchanged for 2008, "Consistency is very important in everything we do and we are very thankful that all of the crew will be with us again this year - Henrik, Jes, Markus, Martin, Peter and The Las Vegas Kid - they are all the very best at what they do" explained Karsten.
With the entry for Easter's Pro Fuel Shootout currently at 7 nitro fans should witness some good racing and the unique opportunity to see funny cars racing dragsters. Andy Carter said "The Easter Thunderball is an event I have won twice before - we are not treating this race as a test session - it's a race - and we are going there with only one aim - to win for a third time!"
